Warkworth dunes

As with most of my prints, this one started with a walk. A walk, and a flask of coffee sheltering from the wind between the dunes, surrounded by marram grass, watching the birds and listening to the waves. The stretch of coastline between Warkworth and Alnmouth in Northumberland is wild and beautiful. There are usually only a few people, if any, out for a walk, especially in the winter. I've captured a couple of people here, mooching along the wet sand, collecting pebbles. The dunes, sand, sea and headland are glimpsed from behind the swaying grasses, with small clouds scudding across the sky. Although this could be many places up and down England's north east coast, or around Britain, for me, it conjures up that specific moment in time. I hope it conveys not just the sight, but also the sounds and smells of a British beach.

This is an original linocut print made using a reduction process. This means that I used only one block of lino to make the print, and cut each layer by turn, printing with a different colour each time on top of the previous layer. This is a method I'm using more and more in my prints. I printed this in 6 layers using 8 colours. When using a reduction technique, there is no opportunity to go back a stage, as more of the surface of the lino is cut away each time. This means they are always printed in limited editions.

The prints sold here are all originals, each one is named, numbered and signed, in a limited edition of 14 prints. The print size is 8x6".

As they are each made and printed by hand, there will inevitably be slight variations from print to print.
They are printed on beautifully smooth acid-free Kent 190 gsm A4 paper and are sold unmounted. For the photographs, I have used a 16x12” frame.

Delivery to all UK addresses is free. Prints are sold unmounted and are packaged in card-backed envelopes. Cards and prints are sent using Royal Mail, first class delivery. For packages needed urgently, or being sent abroad, please contact me directly before placing your order for postage options.
Orders will be processed within 5 days of receipt, although I do aim to dispatch as quickly as possible.
