This is an original multi block linocut print of a traditional front garden, printed in a limited edition of just 12. It is the third print in my Urban Garden series.
Throughout the Covid 19 lockdown, I went out for a walk every day, in the suburbs of Newcastle where I live. Although I have always been interested in plants and their shapes, I have become more and more interested in the more formal structure in which we present plants, in our gardens. I wanted to make a print to celebrate the pride we feel in our little urban plots. I include myself in this, as last year we ripped out the tarmac in front of our house and planted a traditional front garden instead, with the chimney pot, terracotta pot and hanging basket in the print (though sadly not the wisteria!).
I had been out and about sketching gardens for a few months, concentrating on pots, fences, gates, paths, paving, trellises, baskets, troughs, walls - the fixed man-made forms amongst the plants. I was also been playing about with the simplification of plant forms, where I distill the natural shapes into more geometric ones without losing the identity of the plant itself.

Each original print is named, numbered and signed.
As they are each made by hand, there will inevitably be variations from print to print.
The prints are printed on beautifully smooth acid-free Kent 190 gsm A4 paper and are sold unmounted. Although the print itself covers 7.5x6", I have mounted it for the photographs in a 9x7" aperture mount, and framed it in a 16x12” frame.

Delivery to all UK addresses is free. Prints are sold unmounted and are packaged in card-backed envelopes. Cards and prints are sent using Royal Mail, first class delivery. For packages needed urgently, or being sent abroad, please contact me directly before placing your order for postage options.
Orders will be processed within 5 days of receipt, although I do aim to dispatch as quickly as possible.
If you would like your print to be framed, I can arrange this for you - just get in touch for a quote before placing your order.
