Snowy Gap

An original linocut print of Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall on a snowy winter's day, printed in black ink on A4 beautifully smooth Kent printmaking paper.

This block was cut and printed in October 2023, not long after the famous and much-loved sycamore tree was illegally felled. Although I have lots of thoughts on that particular subject, this is not the place to air them. I'll always remember Sycamore Gap as a special place, one with hundreds of personal family memories and one that meant so much to so many others as well. We have walked the wall countless times, with many start and end points, but almost always encompassing 'the tree' as the highlight of our day. This is a simple black and white single-block print of the Gap seen from the south, with snow gently falling and having settled on the tree, the wall and the ground around. I've had the pleasure of seeing the tree in the snow (in fact, in every weather imaginable!) and it really is (was) a beautiful sight.

Delivery to all UK addresses is free. Prints are sold unmounted and are packaged in card-backed envelopes. Cards and prints are sent using Royal Mail, first class delivery. For packages needed urgently, or being sent abroad, please contact me directly before placing your order for postage options.
Orders will be processed within 5 days of receipt, although I do aim to dispatch as quickly as possible.
