Hide and reeds

This is the second of 3 prints I made for my Artist Residency at Gosforth Nature Reserve in 2026. It shows the boardwalk approaching the Ridley Hide, cutting through the reed beds. I love this path with high reeds either side, and the contrast of the angular, dark building against the rustling, swaying winter reeds. I spent many a happy hour sitting in this hide, painting and sketching and chatting to the knowledgeable birdwatchers and photographers who spend their time there.

The name came from 'hide and seek', not just because sitting in a bird hide makes you feel hidden from the world around you, able to observe unnoticed - but also because I'm always aware that there are likely birds hidden in the reeds, maybe a reed warbler perched on a stem, or a bittern prowling the water.

The print is approximately 31x20cm in size, on A3 paper, in a limited edition of just 12. The prints are sold unframed, and are printed on beautifully smooth acid-free Kent paper. Each print is named, numbered and signed by myself.

Delivery to all UK addresses is free. Prints are sold unmounted and are sent using Royal Mail, first class delivery. For packages needed urgently, or being sent abroad, please contact me directly before placing your order for postage options.
Orders will be processed within 5 days of receipt, although I do aim to dispatch as quickly as possible.
