Cresswell Sands I

I love to walk along a beach, whatever the weather. I'm lucky enough to live in a corner of the world where it's possible to have a whole beach to yourself. I'll happily while away an hour (or several) mooching along, collecting shells and pebbles, listening to the waves and, if it's not too cold, plodging in the waves.

For a long time now, I've been documenting patterns in the sand. These are usually ripples, often with interesting shadows, as with this print. But sometimes they're reflections in damp sand, sometimes they're different coloured sands which flow in rivulets. I love the fact that a beach will never look the same twice. I'm planning to make a series of prints celebrating these patterns, and therefore the ephemeral nature of the beach. This first one, Cresswell Sands I, is inspired by Druridge Bay in Northumberland, probably my most visited beach.

It's a reduction print in 3 layers, which means that I used one lino block and cut into that same block 3 times, superimposing the layers in different colours. I made a small limited edition of only 8 prints.

The prints are sold unframed. The print size is 40x29cm and the paper size is approximately 50x35cm.
The paper is a heavyweight Fabriano. Each print is named, numbered and signed by myself.

Delivery to all UK addresses is free. Large prints are sold unmounted and are rolled in stiff cardboard postage rolls. Cards and prints are sent using Royal Mail, first class delivery. For packages needed urgently, or being sent abroad, please contact me directly before placing your order for postage options.
Orders will be processed within 5 days of receipt, although I do aim to dispatch as quickly as possible.
